Veterans Week 2023

What is Veterans Week?

In honor of Veterans Day that occurs on November 11, CSU’s Adult Learner & Veteran Services has dedicated  November 4-11, 2023 to our #CSUVeterans. During this week, we will honor and thank all military personnel who served the United States, with a special appreciation for the #CSUVeterans in our staff, faculty, student body, and alumni.

“I firmly believe that at the very core of our success – is our greater campus community believing in and demonstrating the value that student veterans bring to CSU.  If you have not heard me say it before, know that the student veterans on our campus today will one day be referred to as the next greatest generation!!

9:00 AM – 2:00 PM MST Fall Clean Up!
Fall Clean Up is an opportunity for CSU students & staff to help Fort Collins neighbors in need.
Join the ALVS as we kick-off Veterans Week by assisting elderly and/or physically limited neighbors in the Fort Collins area with outdoor yard work (raking leaves, trimming bushes, cleaning gutters, etc.) that they cannot complete themselves and cannot afford to pay someone to do. This program helps facilitate positive relations between the long-term residents in Fort Collins and CSU students and staff, while also helping the neighbors to maintain their properties and get their homes ready for the fall/winter seasons. Families, Partners, & Kids are all welcome to join us! We’ll reach out with more information if you plan on joining us!

Indigenous Educational Experiences and Survey Research
Join CSU’s Adult Learner & Veteran Services (ALVS), the Native American Cultural Center (NACC), and Ram Events as we listen to Dr. Jameson Lopez as he describes his previous research through the lens of his personal educational stories as a Native American veteran, and what it means to be a successful Indigenous college student.
In his most recent research, he further explores the relationships among Kwanamii (warrior spirit), nation-building, and postsecondary education. This research challenges us to look at educational outcomes based on the values of community, and argues that these value-based outcomes are likely better measurements of educational achievement than other mainstream educational achievement metrics.
This is a hybrid event, and lunch will be provided in the Lory Student Center in Longs Peak, Room 302.
