Veterans Week 2022

What is Veterans Week?

In honor of Veterans Day that occurs on November 11, CSU’s Adult Learner & Veteran Services has dedicated  November 5-12, 2022 to our #CSUVeterans. During this week, we will honor and thank all military personnel who served the United States, with a special appreciation for the #CSUVeterans in our staff, faculty, student body, and alumni.

“I firmly believe that at the very core of our success – is our greater campus community believing in and demonstrating the value that student veterans bring to CSU.  If you have not heard me say it before, know that the student veterans on our campus today will one day be referred to as the next greatest generation!!

Veterans Week Schedule

November 5 – 12, 2022

9:00 AM – 2:00 PM MST Fall CleanUp!
Fall Clean Up is an opportunity for CSU students & staff to help Fort Collins neighbors in need.
Join the ALVS as we kick-off Veterans Week by assisting elderly and/or physically limited neighbors in the Fort Collins area with outdoor yard work (raking leaves, trimming bushes, cleaning gutters, etc.) that they cannot complete themselves and cannot afford to pay someone to do. This program helps facilitate positive relations between the long-term residents in Fort Collins and CSU students and staff, while also helping the neighbors to maintain their properties and get their homes ready for the fall/winter seasons. Families, Partners, & Kids are all welcome to join us! We’ll reach out with more information if you plan on joining us!
7:00 – 11:00 PM MST 5th Annual ALVS Military & Veteran Appreciation Ball

The Adult Learner & Veteran Services Office invites you &/or a guest to attend our 5th annual Military, Veteran, & Adult Learner Appreciation Ball. You’ll hear this event sometimes referred to as Adult Prom. ALVS is looking forward to celebrating with all of our community in the Canvas Stadium, 4th Floor Stadium Club Level. Creative Writing Workshop with Ross Atkinson
This one-time writing workshop event, hosted by the Adult-Learner and Veterans Service office, is open to anyone with a story to tell. Free to stop by for 30 minutes in-between classes to write and listen to some stories, or stay the whole event. There is no expectation placed on participation. This “Writing with Veterans” event follows the same methods as CSU’s veterans writing workshop in that participants will be given a couple of prompts before being given 20 -30 minutes to write. Afterward, anyone who wishes to share their composition can, but sharing is not an expectation. Listeners will then comment on aspects of the writing that resonated with them or that they enjoyed. The workshop facilitator will also highlight some creative methods and tools for participants to try in their writing if they wish. If you already have a story to tell and don’t wish to use the prompts, great! Feel free to use this workshop space to get that story out and get some real-world feedback. There is no expectation to use any prompt or tool, but they are there if they are needed. Lunch will be served!
