I transferred into CSU after an almost 10-year break. As a veteran, I wanted to use my benefits before they expired, which allowed me to follow my passions. My future aspirations revolve around becoming a therapist or having a positive impact on the lives of others in a helping profession. Beyond my academic pursuits, I am the proud mother of two incredibly bright and talented children, Layla and Jayce, aged 13 and 9. My partner remains actively committed to the Air Force.

My journey to this point was significantly influenced by a CSU HDFS graduate, who played a pivotal role in transforming my future. She saved my life. I had been grappling with a sense of displacement for years, desperately seeking a place where I could belong and contribute as a member of a team. It felt as though my identity had been stripped away, and I yearned to rediscover my true self within a supportive community.

My introduction to CSU was marked by an unexpected encounter with a peer advisor who would become my beacon of hope—a guiding light amidst the stormy darkness, reassuring me that there were people who cared what my outcome was. This individual proved to be a turning point. They made me feel like I was not a burden and that I was in fact a wanted addition to the CSU family. I knew then that I wanted to one day, be the support someone needed when they felt out of place or unsure of their footing.

I often lead with humor and find myself being the loudest one in the room especially if I am nervous, I am becoming one with these quirks and honestly cannot wait to meet more of our ‘Ramily’!
