Greetings! My name is Anna Kohl She/Her/Hers pronouns. I enjoy gardening, roller-skating, and getting into nature when I am not studying.
Many many years ago, I dropped out of college due to not being able to pass a Western Civilization history class. After a 10-year hiatus and working a multitude of jobs, I returned to school as an Adult Learner. I switched my focus from an Associate in Arts to one of Science, and in May 2024 I graduated with honors from Pikes Peak State College. I then transferred to CSU Fort Collins with aspirations of obtaining a double Bachelor in Horticulture and Agricultural Biology. I chose CSU because it is the only institution in Colorado (my home state) that offers horticulture programs and ended up expanding my curriculum goals.
When I returned to higher education as an adult, I discovered a renewed focus and drive to excel in my studies. I also found myself becoming deeply involved with campus life and community. At my last institution, I became familiar with almost all of the offices and departments on campus. Soon I found myself becoming very familiar with the resources the college offered. I began mentoring and advising other students toward successful techniques and habits.
My first week at CSU was overwhelming, like a fish out of water, but I found that I had a community of other Adult Learners who were all going through the same nerve-racking experiences. I found support in the ALVS, from friendly faces at the front desk, new friends, and Peer Advisors. Now, I aim to continue to help students navigate through their unique challenges, and achieve their academic goals.
As adults, we are all aware that life happens, and at times it takes a community to make it through. I am here to lend a listening ear, connect you with academic resources, and create a welcoming space for you to thrive. Please, don’t be shy to stop by and say hello, let’s share a cup of joe!
