College of Natural Sciences Military Scholarship

Mr. Pedigo is a native of Colorado and graduated from Longmont High School in 1954. Shortly after graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force (USAF), and served from August 1954 until May 1958. He received his basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, and attended Radio Traffic Analysis School at the USAF Security Service Command Headquarters at Kelly Air Force Base also in San Antonio. His initial assignment was to the 6934th Radio Squadron Mobile at Wheelus Air Force Base in Tripoli, Libya. Upon completion of his tour of duty at Wheelus, he extended his overseas duty with a one-year extension to the 6901st Security Group Headquarters in Zswibrucken, Germany. After completion of his tour in Germany, he returned to Kelly Air Force Base to serve out his remaining enlistment period.

He entered Colorado State University in the fall of 1958. He selected Civil Engineering as his course of study and received a Bachelor of Civil Engineering degree in 1963. While a student, he was a member of Sigma Tau (National Engineering Fraternity), Chi Epsilon (National Civil Engineering Fraternity), and Kappa Mu Epsilon (National Mathematics Society). He was Historian of Sigma Tau and President of Chi Epsilon in his final year. He received the Silver Medal Award from the Colorado Engineering Council as the Outstanding Engineering Student, and the Annual Student Award of the Colorado Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers in 1963.

After graduation, he was employed by Proctor & Gamble, Sundstrand Aviation, and Scientific Software Corporation (SSC), as a software developer and analyst. He held several management positions at SSC, his last being Corporate Vice President and President of the Business Services Division. In 1986, he purchased the Business Services Division of SSC and initiated a new company, Innovative Business Services (IBS). IBS focused on development of software products and consulting services for the Land & Ownership Segment for the United States Petroleum Industry. Mr. Pedigo retired in 1998.

The purpose of this scholarship is to benefit students enrolled in the College of Natural Sciences at Colorado State University who are military veterans.

The recipient(s) of the scholarship shall:

  1. be a full-time student enrolled in the College of Natural Sciences;
  2. utilize veteran services at Colorado State University;
  3. have academic standing as an undergraduate Junior or Senior; and
  4. be an honorably discharged veteran of the Armed Forces of the United States.

The CSUSA generally opens on October 1st and the deadline is the following March 1st. CSUSA submissions apply to the following academic year.
