Adult Learner Week 2021

Adult Learner Week 2021

Adult Learner & Veteran Services (ALVS) supports the increased academic achievement and holistic development for all adult learners, resulting in graduation from Colorado State University (CSU) and sustainable personal and professional success. We do this through engagement and leadership opportunities, community building, and resource facilitation. To celebrate the many adult learners on CSU’s campus, the ALVS is hosting Adult Learner Week. This will be a week used to showcase the many resources available to adult learners on CSU’s campus and to continue fostering community through fun events and virtual sessions.

Schedule of Events
Week of March 15-19, 2021

DUE TO CSU’S CLOSURE, MONDAY’S PANEL WILL BE POSTPONED.

11:00 AM – 12:30 PM MST

Adult Learner Panel

Join the ALVS and our panel of adult learners as we gain insight into the complexities of being a nontraditional student pursuing a degree at CSU.

POSTPONED
CSU IG Takeover with Chelsey Beardsley

Chelsey is a non-traditional transfer student originally from Anchorage, Alaska. She is majoring in Interior Architecture and Design (IAD) and minoring in Construction Management and Design Thinking. Chelsey chose Colorado State University initially for its very strong and competitive IAD program and because Colorado was the second-best place to be outside of her home state.
“What I did not know when I came to CSU was how the university embraces and supports their non-traditional students. Immediately upon my arrival to campus, I was introduced to a vast network of other adult learners and faculty that understood the value non-traditional students bring to the table campus-wide. Because I was instantly connected to a supportive and engaged community, I have been able to fully excel in my degree here at CSU and have taken on many roles in student organizations and other positions throughout campus including: CSU’s American Society of Interior Designers (ASID), CSU Student Veteran’s Organization and a Student Voting Member of the Rocky Mountain Student Media Board. Being part of the ALVS and being at a school that supports and celebrates their non-traditional students has been instrumental to my success here at CSU and the career I hope to have outside of college.”
