The ALVS Advisory Board is composed of full-time students who identify as Adult Learners and Student Veterans and two, at-large, faculty or staff members. These are the voting members of the board. The board meets once a month during the academic year. Meetings are open to the public. The ALVS management staff attends the meetings but they may not vote.  The ALVS Board is governed by their constitution and by-laws.


The mission of the board is to maintain that Adult Learner and Veteran Services promotes an environment that respects and supports all students and strives to educate the CSU community about the unique needs of students who meet one or more of the following criteria: has one or more children; is a Student Veterans; is married, partnered, single, divorced or widowed; is working full-time, or part-time; has low income; is first generation, etc.



Students who serve on the advisory board must meet the following criteria:


  • Have a CSU cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher;
  • Must identify as a student in life transition;
  • Be available to meet once a month;
  • Be interested in supporting and improving the programs and services ALVS provides.


If this is something you would be interested in participating in, applications to serve on the board are accepted each spring. Selection and orientation occurs in April and May.  This is a volunteer position. Please complete the application form including answering the questions.  If more applications are received than positions are available, an interview may be requested.
